Manage your supply chain using natural language with MCP

The Cloudsmith CLI now supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing you to bridge your package management workflow with AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and VS Code. This integration eliminates the context-switching typically required to surface package metadata or security insights.

By exposing Cloudsmith’s API as a set of executable tools for your LLM, you can now query vulnerabilities, list versions, and manage artifacts through a conversational interface. Whether you are performing engineering audits or streamlining DevOps tasks, the new cloudsmith mcp configure command makes it simple to securely connect your existing CLI credentials to your AI-powered development environment.

What's new in Cloudsmith?

📜 Interactive API sandbox added to documentation

We refreshed and re-architected our documentation website - now powered by a docs-as-code workflow to provide a more responsive experience and simpler navigation.
This new site now features an interactive API sandbox, allowing you to test endpoints and view real-time response data directly from your browser to accelerate your integrations. The old docs site will remain available until the end of March 2026. 

👀 Deeper visibility with cache hit and miss data

If you haven’t already, we recommend enabling automated log exports (S3 and Azure) to gain granular visibility into your distribution performance. We’ve added cache hit data to these exports, allowing you to track exactly which requests are served from the Cloudsmith edge versus upstream sources directly within your SIEM or logging tools.

✨ Web app quality of life improvements

A series of updates to the Cloudsmith web app have been rolled out to improve daily developer workflows. These include unsaved change safeguards on settings pages, improved version sorting for package groups, and clearer usage observability markers within the UI.

🔼 Manage Generic upstreams via Terraform

Cloudsmith’s new Generic package format allows you to proxy, cache, and manage any file or binary that doesn't fit into standard ecosystems. To automate this at scale, we’ve updated the Cloudsmith Terraform provider to support configuring Generic upstreams. You can now use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure consistent, repeatable configuration for all your file-based assets.

🔊 Branding and layout improvements for Public Broadcasts

We’ve updated Public Broadcasts with enhanced layout options and white-labeling capabilities for Ultra and Enterprise customers. These improvements ensure that your external software distribution experience remains professional, trustworthy, and aligned with your corporate identity.

🌇 Deprecation notice: Classic App Client Logs and statistics

We are sunsetting the Client Logs and Statistics views within the classic Cloudsmith web app. As we continue to migrate to our high-speed data pipeline in the new web application, these legacy views will no longer be updated. All historical and real-time data remains fully accessible in the current web interface.
